Ka'ak (Arabic: كعك, also transliterated kaak) or Kahqa is the Arabic word for cake, and can refer to several different types of baked goods produced throughout the Arab world and the Near East. The bread, in Middle Eastern countries, is similar to a hardened biscuit-which is the type of Ka’ak Grandma Sallie makes!

If you’ve ever lived in a Middle Eastern home here or abroad, you would munch on this savory little sesame-topped cracker every morning with your cofee, dunk it, and whoosh it around a bit, and take it with you on the go to snack on anytime you are longing for a good satisfying crunch!

MEET GRANDMA SALLIE

When Grandma Sallie immigrated to the United States from Syria in the 1960’s she became famous for both her incredible cooking and her goodnatured hospitality. This age old Ka’ak recipe, passed on from her grandmother and hers before her, is Grandma Sallie’s specialty. Whenever friends or family would come visit, she’d always have some of this homemade treat on hand to share.

My name is Sam, and I can tell you that my grandma Sallie’s Ka’ak is so good, I decided to put it in this bag and share it with you!
